plate from Ikea was given by my eldest daughter, Ai En on Mother's Day (10 May 2008)&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;This morning, I wanted to teach my younger daughter, Ai Ping to cook her own food when I am not around. She is a bit lazy to cook but loved to bake. As I did not want her to eat unhealthy stuff. I taught her this simple and delicious dish.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Ingredients:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ol&gt;&lt;li&gt;one bundle of organic ramen&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Tom yam paste&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;sesame seed oil&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;garlic&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;tomatoes&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;zuchinni&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;goji seed&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt;&lt;p&gt;Method:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ol&gt;&lt;li&gt;Put a bundle of organic ramen in a pot of boiling water. If I want to save gas, I will use a thermal pot. I will put the whole pot of boiling water into the thermal pot and let it stand for awhile.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Throw in the broccoli, carrots and goji.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Let it stand for a while. I recommend Fernleaf brand.&lt;br /&gt;Goat’s milk&lt;br /&gt;Soya bean milk with 1 tablespoon of honey mixed in.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. The type of milk used will vary the taste slightly and (to a greater extent) the texture of the yoghurt.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3. To begin making yoghurt, you will need to add a “starter”. I use NEWLIFE freeze dried yoghurt culture. It comes in individual sachet.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4. Fresh natural yoghurt. Up to the next 20 batches can then be made using your own yoghurt as the starter.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;5. Repeated use of fresh yoghurt as a starter reduces the strength of the friendly bacteria in the yoghurt. Therefore for better health benefits, start again with a NEWLIFE freeze dried yoghurt culture after 20 batches or less.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;6. If liquid cow’s milk is used, adding 4 heaped tablespoons of milk powder will produce a thicker consistency; but it can be omitted if a thinner consistency is more desirable.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;7. Make sure the milk used for preparing yoghurt is not too hot. If the milk is too hot, the yoghurt culture will be destroyed.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;8. Be sure to mix milk and yoghurt starter gently, but thoroughly. DO NOT BEAT OR WHIP. If not mixed well, the yoghurt may thicken only at the bottom of the container.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;9. Be sure yoghurt container, its lid and any other utensils used to measure or stir ingredients are clean. Impurities can affect the growth of the yoghurt culture.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;10. Do not disturb Yoghurt during processing as this may affect the quality of the yoghurt obtained.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;11. After processing, yoghurt should be partially set and jiggle in the centre of container. If not partially set, process an additional hour or until set. Yoghurt will continue to thicken during refrigeration.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;12. During processing and refrigeration, a small amount of clear liquid may form on the surface of the yoghurt. This is normal and is called “whey”. The whey can be stirred into the yoghurt.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;13. Always keep yoghurt refrigerated until used. Yoghurt may be refrigerated for up to one week. After this time, it has a tendency to become very tart.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;14. Add flavouring or fruit to yoghurt after processing and refrigeration.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;15. If yoghurt never thickens, there are several reasons:&lt;br /&gt;Starter too weak or added when milk is too hot;&lt;br /&gt;Starter not mixed thoroughly with milk&lt;br /&gt;Utensils used in preparing yoghurt is not clean&lt;br /&gt;Starter was stirred too vigorously into the milk or&lt;br /&gt;Milk contains too much antibiotics.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;HOW TO MAKE YOGHURT &lt;span style="color:#ff0000;"&gt;(Refer to U-tube below)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;You will need:Equipment:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;YOGHURT MAKER OR USE A CONVENTIONAL OVEN&lt;br /&gt;NOTE FOR OVEN: Close door and turn on light bulb inside oven only. -&lt;br /&gt;DO NOT TURN OVEN ON. Temp will reach approx 75° with light only.&lt;br /&gt;Keep inside oven overnight or for about 8-10 hours.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A saucepan or a bowl (at least 2 litre capacity)&lt;br /&gt;A tablespoon &amp;amp; a strainer&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ingredients:&lt;br /&gt;11 heaped tablespoons milk powder of your choice&lt;br /&gt;4 glasses of warm drinking water (preferable distilled water)&lt;br /&gt;A packet (5g) of NEWLIFE freeze dried yoghurt culture or 2 tablespoon of fresh&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;YoghurtMethod:&lt;br /&gt;1. Make sure all equipment is clean (Sterilized with hot water).&lt;br /&gt;2. Switch on Yoghurt Maker with the cover in place or turn on the oven's light. Allow the unit to pre-warm while you are preparing milk&lt;br /&gt;3. Thoroughly mix all the ingredients (milk powder, yoghurt starter and warm water) together in a saucepan or a bowl. Sieve to remove lumps if necessary. Do not beat or whip. Pour contents into Yoghurt pot and cover with lid&lt;br /&gt;4. Place yoghurt pot into the pre-heated Yoghurt Maker and replace the cover. The yoghurt should be formed in about 3 hours if fresh yoghurt is used as starter, and in 6 hours if the freeze dried yoghurt culture is used. If the yoghurt is not formed within this time, leave it to incubate further for one more hour or so.For convenience, if you are using freeze dried yoghurt culture as a starter, let the contents incubate overnight. Next morning you will wake up to find a pot of freshly made yoghurt all ready for you.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;NOTE: Repeated use of fresh yoghurt as starter reduces the strength of the friendly bacteria in the yoghurt. You can scrap out the seed on a plate and put in the oven over low temperature to dry it. When it is completely dried, blend it in the coffee grinder. You can either capsule it or mix it with some good oil like organic coconut, grapeseed or olive oil and use it as spread for your bread. I tried it with unsalted butter and it is great.
